Learn To Skate
This program is designed as a way to teach quality ice skating skills to interested skaters of all ages! In our program skaters will learn valuable base skills including ice safety, proper stance, and proper edge use. These skills are invaluable to building your skater’s future in either Hockey or Figure skating.
We offer 7-week sessions which include a weekly lesson with practice ice time. Lessons are with certified Learn to Skate USA instructors and our program is endorsed by United States Figure Skating, USA Hockey and USA Speed Skating. Each week skaters will have a 15 min lesson and opportunity for up to 30 mins of practice ice.
We accept skaters who are 3 years or older at the start of each session. Skaters must demonstrate the ability to stand on their own, follow instructions and engage in the weekly lesson. Each week skaters will be taught skills based on their level and evaluated at the end of the six week session.
Skaters aged 3-5yrs will typically start in the Snowplow Sam program and complete 4 levels prior to moving onto either the hockey program or figure skating programs. Skaters 6yrs and up typically will start in Basic 1/Hockey 1 and will receive more information on joining the Hockey or Figure skating programs after their first evaluation. If you have skated with the program in the past, this season our program will cover the Snowplow levels 1-3 and Basic 1-6.
A $25 per season registration fee is required and includes the skaters individual Learn to Skate USA membership, a skills book, level completion certificates and patches, and keeps our compliance with LTS. This fee must be paid to hold your skaters spot in our program and is non-refundable once paid. Quality skates are available for skaters to rent each session. These skates are bought and maintained by the NIFSC. Skates are name brands and sharpened regularly, they are not the same skates as the arena rentals. The cost is $15/session and will be added to your registration fee. We do not guarantee type (hockey vs figure) but do our best to offer a choice when available.
Session fee is $75 and must be paid in order for skaters to take the ice. This fee is non-refundable after the first lesson.
